Jim has been a Realtor in Kitchener-Waterloo for over 35 years, representing buyers and sellers in the Golden Triangle (Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge), plus surrounding communities such as New Hamburg, Ayr, Baden, Heidelberg, St. Clements, Drayton, Salem/Elora, Elmira and others! During Jim’s years of service with the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board, he was an enthusiastic member of the education committee.

Carol McIntyre
Sales Representative

Carol McIntyre has been a real estate professional in the Kitchener-Waterloo area for 28 years. A Toronto native, Carol came to Waterloo to attend university and, after acquiring a Masters degree and working as a teaching assistant at the University of Waterloo, she interrupted her PhD studies to pursue a career in real estate. With honesty and integrity being of utmost importance to her in business, she eschewed the stereotype of the salesperson and was determined to create her own niche.

She consistently achieved the highest performance levels within the Re/max organization including the “Hall of Fame” and “Lifetime Achievement” awards. Carol soon became a relocation specialist and, in that capacity, was instrumental in moving many bank and insurance executives into the area.  

Raising a family in this marvelous community led her to serve on the boards of the KW Montessori School, the United Way and various other school committees and charitable foundations. With two of her children being involved in music and theatre, she also became a committed supporter of the local arts community.

Shannon Treadwell
Sales Representative

Shannon Treadwell is a licensed Real Estate sales representative and has been working with the McIntyre Team for more than 12 years now. As an associate of Jim and Carol McIntyre, she is fully capable of helping any of the team’s clients – buyers or sellers. As a team, they are able to extend their ability to service their client’s needs. Shannon brings a knowledge of Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge and surrounding areas as well as expertise in rural properties. 

Not originally from this area, Shannon has lived in both large city environments and small town communities. She has been happily married for 30 years and has three children. 

With a background in Natural Resources, Shannon has a ‘down to earth’ approach to coaching clients in the process of buying, or selling a home. Prior to entering into a new career of Real Estate, she owned her own business for several years. 

Also, with hands-on experience renovating previous homes, Shannon has the expertise and understanding, as well as the ability to determine practical and economical remedies to areas of concern. Further, by identifying positive and negative features of different homes as they specifically relate to the client’s requirements, she provides an extra level of service.

We had a wonderful experience working with Jim McIntyre and team both for purchasing a new home and selling our current home. Jim was always available whenever we wanted to look at a property for sale and helped provide insight on the details of each property. He was thorough in answering any questions we had about a property, and about the buying and selling process. Once we found our dream home, Jim helped guide us through the negotiation process – his expert advice helped us succeed in a crazy market! Once we had our current home ready to go up for sale, Jim took the time to help ensure our house was well presented, even having Carol McIntyre stop in to make some final adjustments (we were so surprised and happy with how even minor suggestions made our house show that much better!).

Throughout the entire process, Jim was flexible, patient and accommodating – it felt like he was available 24/7! We always felt like Jim was ‘on our side’ and had our best interests at heart. He was truly interested in helping us to purchase our dream home – not just looking for a quick sale. Not only was he able to provide expert advice, but he was also very personable – we felt like we were working with a friend! We were also pleasantly surprised to receive a restaurant gift card from the McIntyre Team, which we used to celebrate selling our home for a great price! We were so happy that we went with Jim and the McIntyre Team as our realtor and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to purchase or sell a house!

Karen and I want you to know we are 100% (if we could go higher than 100% we would) satisfied with our decision to use the McIntyre Team to market and sell our home. 

We talked to two other realtors prior to selecting the McIntyre Team and not for one moment have we regretted our selection. 

While not taking anything away from the other two realtors, it was your marketing that turned us on.  A  116 year house on 1.2 acres of riverfront is not exactly run of the mill, and your marketing prowess was the difference in our selection and the resulting sale. 

Your associate, Shannon Treadwell, is a jewel of the first order.  She was always there when we needed her and every promise she made was promptly fulfilled.

 My husband and I met Jim McIntyre at an open house a couple of years ago. While we were not seriously looking for a house at that point in time, Jim took us very seriously. Being a young couple, we were impressed by his professional yet relaxed demeanor so when it came to selling our own home, we knew there was no one else to call. The day after leaving him a message, Jim reached out to us and arranged to meet with us shortly thereafter. After evaluating our home, Jim gave us not one, or two, but three price points and explained the probable outcomes of listing at each level, thus allowing us to make our own educated decision. At this same meeting, Jim asked us what we were looking for. We pulled out a listing from an open house we had visited that past weekend and Jim called and had the realtor on the phone within minutes. No pressure, but a willingness to understand what we were looking for. That very night we met again and went through the house. 

Through our time working with Jim we appreciated his expertise in the real estate market of the area and his dry sense of humour making a stressful process more relaxed and fun than we could have imagined. He came to meet with us many times through the selling and buying process, with no hour too late for a meeting or a phone call. We walk away from working with Jim and the McIntyre Team feeling that they were truly working for us, not a commission.

When we engaged the McIntyre team we had 2 objectives: 1) to make some minor changes to improve the marketability of the home; and, 2) most importantly - to get the home sold quickly — as we had already fled the province. We believe that you understood these objectives and executed accordingly. 

We appreciate your team taking the time to provide suggestions to improve the appearance of the home. It is often difficult reconciling multiple suggestions and budget constraints but we feel that this was handled very professionally and achieved the desired result. We have bought and sold many homes in the past and appreciate the necessity to work with reasonable offers when they come. Although one can always hope for more, we believe we arrived at a reasonable result for all parties concerned. 

Overall we felt that the ongoing communication and negotiations were handled in a very professional manner. A vast departure from our last experience.
